Training at Terem
At Terem we firmly believe in the importance of Continual Professional Development, for all our staff. To that end we provide the following courses to all of our staff. These courses are also available to external participants, unless otherwise specified.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Refresher Course
All of our medical staff are ACLS- certified, and undergo a refresher course every two years. While most standards require a four hour refresher, we insist on an upgraded course lasting eight hours.
This course, organized by Dr Todd Zalut, Senior Emergency Physician and Medical Director of Terem's Modi'in branch, together with Tzur Admon, Head of Nursing, includes lectures and workshops on basic life support, arrhythmias, airways, and medical protocols.
Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS)
Authorized and approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the Israeli Scientific Council, we are one of the only centers in Israel providing this course to all of our medical and nursing staff.
The course is a two day course, organized by Dr Deena Zimmerman, Senior Pediatrician and Terem's Director of Research and Education, and includes lectures and workshops on Basic CPR and arrhythmias, airways and IV access, environmental emergencies and trauma, wound management, fever, radiology, toxicology and more.
Terem Urgent Care Series (TUCS)
Based on a series of weekly medical lectures given to Terem staff over a period of two years, this course is essentially a condensed two-day course of the most common medical issues confronting Terem staff in our urgent care clinics.
This two day course, organized by Dr Nahum Kowalski, Deputy Medical Director, includes lectures and workshops on chest pain, fractures, abdominal pain, wound management, fever, casting and much more. This course is a pre-requisite for all new Terem doctors, and is run three to four times a year.
Urgent Medical Support (UMS)
A pre-requisite for all our nursing staff, this two-day course, organized by Tzur Admon, Head of Nursing, covers all aspects of nursing at Terem, including triage, infusions, injections, calculating doses, bandaging, laboratory operation and more.
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
A pre-requisite for all our nursing staff, this one-day course, organized by Tzur Admon, Head of Nursing, covers all aspects of resuscitation from the nursing perspective at Terem, including operating medical equipment, defibrillators and medications.
Annual Nursing Review Course
This one-day course, organized by Tzur Admon, Head of Nursing, is an annual seminar for Terem nursing staff only, and includes a review of medical and nursing protocols, resuscitation refresher and one-off topics, such as radiology.
In addition we provide several courses to the wider community:
Confronting Emergency Situations in a Primary Care Setting
This five hour course is aimed at primary care physicians wanting to be able to handle urgent care cases should they occur within their own clinics. Organized by Dr Deena Zimmerman, Senior Pediatrician and Terem's Director of Research and Education, the course includes lectures and workshops on chest pain, stroke, seizures, bleeding, anaphylaxis and more.
Phlebotomy
Organized by Tzur Admon, Head of Nursing, and approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health, we run two types of course. For those with a medical background the course can be taken in two days. A separate course operates for those with no medical background and this requires a commitment to attend an eight day course.
Who's intitle for the two days course?
